Coesão e coerência textual

Abstract

Neste trabalho propusemo-nos a estudar a propriedade de coesão e sua relação com a coerência, com base nos estudos apresentados por Koch e Antunes. A princípio, ressaltamos que a coesão, por si só, não garante a coerência textual, pois nem sempre se estabelece entre os elementos presentes no texto, exigindo, nesse caso, que o leitor recorra ao contexto para construir a coerência. As relações entre coesão e coerência são interdependentes, o que significa que a coesão não existe por si mesma, uma vez que decorre da própria continuidade exigida pelo texto; por sua vez, a coerência necessita de cada situação, das pessoas envolvidas, das intenções comunicativas, sendo, portanto, construída a partir do texto e seu contexto.

ABSTRACT

In this work we set out to study the property of cohesion and its relation to coherence, based on the studies presented by Koch and Antunes. At first, we emphasize that cohesion by itself, does not guarantee the textual coherence, it is not always established between the elements present in the text, requiring, in this case, that the reader refer to the context to build consistency. The relationship between cohesion and coherence are interdependent, which means that cohesion does not exist by itself, since it is in the continuity required by the text; in turn, the consistency needs of each situation, the people involved, the communicative intentions, and therefore built from the text and its context.
